It was the year 2003 when Burn the Children rose from the fallen sounds of dreary alt-rock music and began releasing their unique sound on the general public. Dusten Pettengill and Nick Alexander formed the band and after a year of small club-type shows and performances, as well as some extensive lyric writing, the two recorded the band's debut E.P. entitled "La Morta." The four tracks album, which is slated for release soon, contains the songs La Morta, Die With You, Buried, and crowd favorite Decompose Me.

During the recording and in the short interim after, BtC picked up as many shows as they could get - spreading their musical genuis on the masses. Shortly after the recording of the EP was completed, Nick decided to leave the band.

Dusten spent the next several months searching for a new drummer and the band was put on temporary hiatus. After trying out many different drummers for the open slot, Dusten stumbled across Chris Shepard. The band was beginning to form itself again.
